Kid Speak of the Week

Thursday, April 21, 2011

My daughter to her brother, last night, as she gives him a kiss before bed:

"Sleep tight, Brudder.  Don't let the bugs bite.  If they bite YOU, beat 'em up with a black shoe!"

I love the thoughtful things that come out of childrens' mouths!

For those of you not familiar with this old rhyme, this is how I've always heard it:

Good night, sleep tight.
Don't let the bed bugs bite.
If they do, beat 'em with a shoe,
until they're black and blue.

My kid changed the words to Lady GaGa's Poker Face this morning to "Cutie Pie, Cutie Pie, No one can read my storybook (it is mine and not nobody's)" I thought it was pretty funny until she kept singing it OVER and OVER and OVER...

Cute, Heather! My daughter used to walk around singing Paparazi, and I couldn't figure out where the heck she picked it up, since I don't recall having ever really listened to that around her. I figured that maybe the babysitter(at that time)had one of those Kidz Bopz CDs that she must have heard it on.

Kids are funny!

When my eldest was younger she'd ask about the names of body parts. Anyhoo, she was very proud of learning her latest body part: nipples. Went swimming later that week as a family.. my husband walks out to the pool wearing him swim trunks she yells as loud as she can "Nipples!" pointing at him. Everyone turned and laughed. I don't know what was funnier the look on my husbands face or the fact that she was so proud of her observation skils.
